Final Progress Review Blog
How does my A2 blog compare with your AS in terms of detail and use of ICT?
My blogging has developed since last year, I believe there is an increase in the number of blogs produced in comparison to last year and there is an improvement in the content of the blog. I have written detailed blogs covering all the points I need to and only including information which is necessary. Furthermore my use of ICT has expanded, coming across new websites to present my information also makes blogging more interesting. Websites such as Slide, murally, thinglink and Emaze have made blogging more enjoyable.
How effectively does the blog show all aspects of the research, planning and production of your advanced portfolio?
From the beginning of my blog I have tried to be very consistent with keeping on top of my blogging checklist. Although all three, planning, research and production has been presented in my blogs, I wish I would of made the process more interesting portraying the process of planning, research and production as if a journey. In my opinion the process of research was carried out very well, looking back at the pitch presentation a lot of research regarding our preferred target audience and mise-en-scene ideas were being constructed. In this regard my research presents a clear picture of what we have in mind for our audience and the portrayal of our artists.
Conclusion
However I have failed to post some important blogs, which may have helped me to perform better such as blog checks. Taking time out to reflect on my work and to identify areas in which I can improve the standard of my blogs may have changed my approach to future blogs.
Individually I have produced approximately 54 blogs, in order to increase this I could have reflected on my work more frequently and carried additional research to find more blogs to create.

Evaluation Question 4 - Joshua Spence
Feedback from Unfinished Music Video
Looking back at the editing process, when we carried out feedback on our unfinished music video we received a comment about a significant scene in our video. One person suggested that we should not leave the camera facing the sky to long when switching the clothing from white to black, she said "we should make it a bit more smoother or faster" this was very helpful feedback because this scene is a pivotal point in the song in which it climaxes therefore we do not want to loose momentum by keeping the audience waiting to long, but we aim to add emphasis tot he climax. This feedback was taken on board and we made the correct adjustments as a group until we were happy with the outcome. The feedback received was very important because the majority of the people offering feedback would be categorised as our target audience, and it is great to give them what they want to see in our music video.
Feedback after cinema viewing
After listening and asking questions about our music video, I gathered that the general feedback was very positive. We came across the same girl who said that the camera was tilted upwards to long. She was delighted that we acted upon her feedback and made the camera drop faster.
Also based on the number of comments about the great transitions made between scenes, I believe that we could have added more transitions to excite our audience. Furthermore reflecting on the feedback we could have the artist less static within the narrative scenes, allowing for more variety in camera shots, for example in the graveyard scene we could have recorded our artist walking and rapping to the graveyard providing opportunities to experiment with different camera shots.
Overall if we were to add any more effects or transitions it may appear over-edited this may cause the meaning of the narrative to be lost or become unrecognisable. I think there is always room for improvement which leads me to believe that the narratives could have been developed further to be more impacting on our audience, although our feedback suggests that our audience was happy with the current narrative and performances.

CD
On the CD, I used the paint brush tool rather than the faces of my artists because after all the advertising I have done with the artists and the paint together, the paint itself represents these two so the audience know who it belongs to. Also, I attempted to put the front cover on my CD in a circular form, however, the preset I used for it to work exposed up my image too much for it to be used on the CD.
Cover up
Cover Filter Effect
Here, I am showing the crosshatch effect I used on photoshop, which I applied on my two artists. I used this effect throughout my products which then became my main theme along with the paint brush tools I used. The crosshatch effect was done by selecting my two artists with the magic wand tool and separating it from all the other layers. I then went to filters (as shown above) and applied the effect I wanted.
Final Advert
This is my final advertisement. I had to make a few changes and additions to this one from my last. One of the things I did was added the virgin records logo.

Process of ancillary
As well as the removal of the smoke, I have also changed the colour of the front panel and advertisement. I have changed the cover to a mixture of black and white. I have changed the background to a grey colour. I have come to find out that it actually works out better.
I have also changed the final image of the front cover to a different stance of Bobby X Brix. I also added a slight blur filter which allow the picture to look soothing and settled into the background.

Inside Cover In Development
Final Ancillary
This is my final ancillary. I have used the black lines continuously in the album cover as this is the product that represents these two artists and what is placed and set here would reflect on their image. The black painted lines were used excessively to trademark it and to get it into the audiences head.
I also added a paint brush effect on the artists' image as this is the type of theme I was going for.

This is my final advertisement. I have stuck with the codes and conventions of a rap genre. I also picked and stuck with a theme of my own which, was the black paint that I left in certain areas of my product. This can be used by itself and it is extremely effective. It is like a trademark for these two artists now. A single painted line can remind people of Bobby X Brix.

This is what I have done so far. I haven't addrd a lot of the information that is necessary, yet. I am contemplating whether there are too many effect for something that I want to be simple, so I might remove two of the three things that may seem like too much - the paint splatter, the effect on the photo of the digipak cover or the showing on the artists. Apart from that, I like the colours and what I have done so far and I will use my audience feedback to help decide on my final advert.
Digipak in Development
Outside Panel
This is what I have done so far.
There are still things I need to add on the spine of the outside panel, like the name of the artist, album and record label logo. I am also contemplating whether or not I should keep the paint splatter on the outside panel. The inside also needs more work and I will use my audience feedback to help me.
Ancillary process of Advertisement
This is the start of my ancillary text advertisement. I have inserted the images of Bobby X Brix cropping the out of the original background and placing it on a white plain background. I have also inserted the text 'Bobby X Brix and also the title of the album 'Heaven or Hell'. Now I need to apply reviews, release dates and social media accesses.
Ancillary Draft Inside cover
This is the process of the inside cover which I am currently working on. So far it is going to plan. However I have decided to scrap the white smoke due to the fact that it wont look so natural and a realistic cover
Ancillary front cover draft
Since I have got my pictures from my photo shoot, I have drafted my front cover.
Overall I am not that satisfied with my first draft. Personally I believe that it doesn't look like a real cover and it also looks pixilated. The edges are also ridged of Bobby X Brix. The smoke also doesn't look as effective as I thought it will be. Therefore I am going to change my cover by taking out the smoke in the background. I am also going to see if I can use a better photo for my cover.

Editing the Digipak
Outside Panels:
Using photoshop for the ancillary was difficult because I am not very good at using it. What I am doing above, is trying to make the backgrounds of both sides of my digipak the same colour. I matched the colour of the background of the actual photo, to the background of the rest of the outside panels. Also, I started a draft of the inside panel, opening a photo that was taken at West Silvertown.

Editing the Advertisement
In these photos, I am adding logos for itunes and hmv, for where the song will be available and this is conventional for advert for CDs. I started by searching for the correct logo on google, and I saved the images to my desktop and opened it in Photoshop I changed that sizes and put it in correct places.

Ancillary Photo Shortlist
These are my shortlist photos because among all the photos we took, I like how 'Bobby and Brix, look in these photos, Also, I like that they are posing on a white background, instead of the ones that we took on the black background. The photos of the separately is for if I was to place them in different positions on the page.

Photo locations
For the outside panels of the digipak and the advertisement, we will use either a plan black or white background, or a green screen. This is because, from our research of similar genres, the backgrounds are usually plain. And we might use the green screen in case we want add any small special effects.
For the inside panel of my digipak, I want to use a photo of either West silver town - where we shot the verses of of the music video - or the suicide bridge in Archway, where the chorus was filmed.
I chose to do this because, these locations relate to the music video, with our being too specific and excluding the other songs on the album. Also, I think that these places relate to the urban genre of the artists, since the places are in London.

Ancillary
I have stayed with the theme I said I would but I changed up the front cover slightly. I haven't however, used the text that I said I was going to. I found it looks better when the font type is the same throughout. A change from regular to italic is all that is needed.
I have underlined 'Heaven Or Hell' with images that go with it. I used a graffiti type effect as my artists are for an urban audience. I have made these lines black so they go with my overall theme. I kept my cover simple and professional. It's better to not play around with it as much and to leave it the way it stands.
All that is left now is to complete the inside of the album and to take images of my artists to place at the front of the cover.

Progress of Ancillary
In todays lesson I have designed the front and back of my album cover for my Digipak, the theme is very simple and considerably dark using predominately black and red as the main theme colours. The artists photos could not be edited onto the Digipak as we are yet to carry out the photo shoot, once we have completed the photo shoot I will place Bobby and Brix in the centre of the front cover.

Costume Ideas for photoshoot
For my photo shoot, there is going to be about two costume changes to represent the title Heaven or Hell. Therefore for the front panel the costume which BobbXBrix are going to wear is black hoodies to contrast with the white background for the front panels.
For the Inside panel the costume used is going to be white shirts for BobbyXBrix which also contrasts the black background
